The major challenges in the cocoa sector are often discussed: climate change, the aging of farmers, child labor, and the poverty of producers. However, our research highlights more subtle yet equally critical threats: the growing disinterest of young people in cocoa production and the ease with which this activity could be abandoned.
OUR APPROACH
With many initiatives focused on immediate solutions or isolated aspects of sustainability, GYLSCO takes a holistic, youth-led approach to building lasting and transformative change. By combining education, advocacy, leadership development and community building, GYLSCO aims to ensure that the cocoa industry not only survives, but becomes a driver of prosperity for producing communities and an attractive pathway for young people.

The Global Youth Leadership for Sustainable Cocoa (GYLSCO) is an international initiative dedicated to training a new generation of leaders capable of transforming the challenges of the cocoa sector into sustainable opportunities.

OUR VISION
To restore pride and motivation to cocoa-growing communities by transforming cocoa into a lever for sustainable prosperity. Through research and innovative initiatives such as FinTech-Cacao, cocoa-tourism, cocoa-inspired art and other economic activities, we aspire to strengthen the resilience of these communities, while discouraging them from abandoning this crop.
